Suddenly I have a short game! My repertoire has expanded from the seven iron chip and run as the only shot in the bag from 80 - 90 m out - a bit of a problem when there is a grassy hollow or a bunker in the way, to a bag load of options - it's very exciting! And my putting - I know that saying you have it sussed is the kiss of death for golf, but my putting has improved out of sight!!!

My grandmother used to say "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves". Boot camp was about the pennies - the little things to focus on and get right. The pound - the score at the end of the match - that will happen. As will the handicap coming down. The mental side of the game is so important and I am working to erase all those nasty tapes - the ones that say I always go out of bounds here, and always go in the pond there - now I am visualizing shots down the middle of the fairway. And they don't always have to be big - nothing wrong with a sensible lay up, or a short shot back onto the fairway. Boot camp has reignited my passion for golf. I think it is called boot camp because now my clubs are stored in the boot of the car so I can stop at the driving range on the way how from work!

I loved every minute of it and it has given me so much to think about. So when I have hit a bad shot I focus now on the next one so I guess I am far more positive. I am hitting so much better getting good length again, not consistent yet but getting there."

After playing golf for more than 40 years it's the small tips that help. Thanks to Marnie the tips have helped to improve my game. John Freed - Hamilton

As a new golfer I have learnt so much. My putting has improved a 1000% and has given me more confidence. Together with an improved swing I am absolutely confident my golf will keep on improving and ultimately lower my handicap. Ange Freed - Hamilton

Both Gaylene and Marnie have a wonderful concept and the experience was above my expectations. Peter Emanuel - Whangarei

An inspirational three days no matter what your golf handicap or aspirations are. Marnie and Gaylene are excellent teachers and great fun, you live in the moment and don't want the camp to end. Jillian McDowell - Invercargill

I attended the Marine MC Guire Golf Boot Camp in February 2008 at the Te Awamutu Golf Club. Marine is an excellent teacher and soon worked out what my problems were. A change of grip, stance and swing and she had me hitting the ball further than ever before. The course also gave me confidence in myself that I didn't know I had, especially in sporting achievements. I have found that a positive attitude helps with all aspects of life and I felt this Boot Camp for me was excellent. Before the Boot Camp my handicap was 31 after 2 months down to a 27. I am thrilled with this result and intend to enrol my husband in one of Marnie's courses. I thoroughly recommend the Marine McGuire Boot Camp to all golfers wishing to improve their Golf. Cheryl Willetts ( a member of the Remuera Golf Club)

I recommend any golfer who wants to improve their game regardless of handicap, attend a Marnie McGuire Boot Camp.  I wish I could have been able to attend one twenty years ago.  The Boot Camp has refocused me on my short game and how important it is to improve scoring. I have only played three games of 18 holes since the camp, but I feel I am chipping and putting with much more confidence and accuracy. Thank you Marnie.

The boot camp was the single best thing I have done over more than three decades of playing golf. I only wish I could have done it years ago. I joined the camp as a last resort to sort out a game that had become a shambles and it has already paid off with lower scores but best of all a much better knowledge of the game which in turn has led to more enjoyment on the course. The three days were full-on but extremely satisfying, and I am sure the knowledge I gained from excellent coaches will keep me in the game much longer than I intended." Jim McLees- Wanganui

The Marnie McGuire boot camp has been of immense benefit to my game of golf, firstly by getting the basis set up correct and being given practice routines that help lock these things in the memory bank. The routines and set ups are individually adjusted for each individual which was the making of the learning process. You could not hide as Marnie has eyes in the back of her head. The most important thing one takes away from the camp is that with out the continuing practice you will not improve to any great degree. Marnies commitment is that she will give you the drills and processes to help improve your game then it is up to yourself to implement the advice given and carry out the practice, as with any thing there is no quick fix, improvement will only come if you put the effort in.The three days I spent at the camp certainly gave me the necessary tools to help me get some consistency in my game and with the ongoing practice can now feel improvement in my consistency from tee to green and the score card is starting to show this. Any one who really wants to be more consistent with there game and are prepared to put into practice the advice and practice routines that you are given you then you like me will find the course great value for money. An incredible experience which I would recommend to all level of golfers. Gosh I found muscles I never knew I had! Marnie gave individual tuition, even though we were in a group situation, and her explanations were patient, positive and enthusiastic. I am actually practicing now - and enjoying it - and my golf has become more structured, and even a couple of weeks later, more consistent and definitely more enjoyable. Thanks heaps to both Marnie and Gaylene. Claire - Wellington

I found the boot camp to be the single best thing I've ever done to improve my golf. I now love going into bunkers, fully confident I'll be out and close. And I'm draining medium length putts frequently, instead of very rarely in the past. I know they say "you can't buy a lower handicap", but this is one way that you actually can! Thanks Marnie! The three days I spent with Marnie & Gaylene were both physically & mentally very demanding but without doubt the best thing I could have done for my golf. Being a relative newcomer to the game I found Marnie's coaching invaluable. Her ability to focus on the needs of the individual were amazing. A great three days spent with a great team. Jane - Cambridge

I found the course extremely valuable through all the parts of my game. I am hitting the ball longer and straighter than for a long while. I feel confident now chipping and pitching, and the putting was a revelation. "Marnie is a very gifted teacher and the two of you combined well to make the three days an enjoyable experience. My new swing has been admired more than once, and better yet feels good. Helen - Waihi

Just a note to thank you both so much for the amazing Boot Camp in Te Awamutu, as you know I didn't have very much in the way of coaching in the past, all my golf has been pretty much self taught relying on tips and information from fellow golfers. I was not too sure of what exactly I could learn from the Camp but it has been a REVELATION !!! The confidence I have gained is the key, I now know and most importantly believe I will only get better. I love it !! "Marnie you have a very special gift and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to have been coached by you. Janis - Hamilton

Yes it was a BOOT camp but so worth while. Marnie spends the time with you and makes sure you understand where you need to make the changes. Robyn - Auckland

Thanks very much for your help at the 3-day boot camp.
I really enjoyed the experience. While I found each day physically demanding, particularly on my lower back muscles, I learnt many new techniques for my short game and am really looking forward to putting them into practice. I fully understand that I need to work hard and won't become a single figure golfer overnight, but am totally satisfied that your boot camp has provided me with all the necessary tools.  Marnie your coaching style was calm and confident, and it amazed me how you could coach five completely different styles at the same time, and we all seemed to improve markedly over the three days." Terry - Cambridge

"This was my first experience of golf coaching. My grip, my swing, my posture were all changed and I could hardly even hit a golf ball, let alone straight! However, I had come with an open mind and was determined to make improvements. By persevering with the changes, slowly but surely I improved, my shots are now straighter and my range of shots has increased significantly. Keeping my mindset right is also bringing dividends. The boot camp was hard work but also great fun. Marnie and Gaylene are a great team and Marnie's coaching methods are relaxed and delivered at a pace that works for the individual. The tips for practice have been invaluable since the camp." Dale - North Harbour

"I found the boot camp experience to be fantastic from go to whoa. As somebody who is relatively new to the game of golf, I have had many an experience where somebody has an opinion about some aspect of my technique, but thanks to Marnie I now feel prepared; I know what I should be doing and why, I understand how my body is meant to feel during my swing, and the proof is now in the end result - I can actually see with my own eyes that it's working. It's difficult to trust yourself and your teacher when you have to overhaul something as sensitive as your golf swing, and at first it isn't necessarily coming off for you, but I can honestly say that by the end of the second day, I was a very happy lady... and I still am. I have my drills, and thanks to Marnie I know as long as I continue to perform the basics well and practice productively (and be patient!), that things will continue to progress nicely. I love my golf, and I can honestly never thank you enough for this entire experience, Marnie. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, no question." Tania - Wellington
